FAQ’s

We have tried to include below as many frequently asked questions as possible, and hope that these are of help to you. If you have any questions that are not covered here, then please do contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

What is different about the Silver used by us?
All our Jewellery is created using Pure Fine Silver. The Jewellery is handcrafted and fired at a high temperature to ensure you have the best quality of product.
From name engraving to polishing we pay high attention to detail in creating your finished piece/s. Each piece is individual and will never look the same as any other piece. Chains, and Cuff-link Backs are all Solid Sterling Silver.
Due to the product being handmade from start to finish and the some silver particles being larger than others there may be slight imperfections visible on the surface of the silver. This is a natural effect.

How long will it take for you to send me an Imprint Kit?
As soon as we receive your order we aim to send out your Imprint Kit within 48 working hours, this may be slightly longer during busy periods. Please allow 7 working days for the delivery of your kit.

Is the kit easy to use?
Yes, the kit is very simple and only takes a few minutes of your time. The imprint compound is a non-toxic plasticine type material, which comes with detailed step-by-step instructions for you to follow. You can also find useful demonstrations online. Then just pop your imprints in the pre-paid envelope and send it back to us. If you have any questions about taking your imprints, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What if the imprints I take are not satisfactory?
Don’t worry as there is enough moulding compound to take 2 fingerprint impressions per person (we will use the best one out of the 2). If for any reason you have not taken your imprints correctly, for example, the compound has not been mixed correctly or the imprint has been distorted, we will send out a new imprint kit free of charge. Please ensure that you are happy with your imprints before returning them to us. Once we have received your imprints we will use the best imprint supplied. There will be a charge of £5.00 for any further fingerprint kits.

What will my imprint look like?
This depends on the fingerprint itself. Every imprint is different, unique and differs in detail:-

Babies or young children’s fingerprints (We would suggest using the index finger)
The fingerprints of babies will not develop until they are 6 months plus, we can however use the imprint you take and capture the shale and size of the little ones finger rather than the fingerprint itself.
The fingerprint of some young children may not yet be well developed and as the detail and definition in the Jewellery will be a direct impression from the fingerprint you supply, it would be beneficial if you can capture the little creases in the joint of the finger this will add to the detail. If your children have very faint fingerprint detail when you take your imprints, then this may not show up in the silver, so capturing the shape and size of the finger plus the lines in joint of the finger will help to give a better finished result.

Adult Fingerprints (We would suggest using the little finger)
Adult fingerprints generally have stronger and clearer detail; however as we age our fingerprint detail does fade, therefore the fingerprints of the elderly may often be faint.
As adult fingerprints are larger than children’s, we may not be able to fit the whole of the print onto the chosen item of Jewellery; we will of course try our very best. Therefore we will either use the most detailed area of the impression, or the central area.

How big will the print be in the finished Jewellery?
The fingerprints are a direct cast taken from the best of your imprints, the silver shrinks by around 12% during firing so the fingerprints in the silver will be slightly smaller than the original. With large fingerprints, we will include as much of the print as possible.

Can you write on the reverse of my item?
Yes, the names or initials can be written on the on the back of your Pendant (excluding the triple pendant where we can only write the initials) and only initials can be written on the back of your cufflinks.
Is there a limit to the amount of letters I can have engraved on my chosen piece?
Most Pendants will accommodate up to 6 letters on the front and 7 letters on the back. We will write names on the back of Pendants if there is not enough room next to the imprints, this will be done at our discretion, or if requested.

When will my item be delivered?
You will receive your finished item/s within 14 days of us receiving your imprints. Production times will increase during busy periods such as Christmas, Mothers Day and Fathers Day. If your jewellery is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, it will be dispatched as soon as possible. Please order as much in advance as possible to avoid any delays.
